Since our incorporation in 2003, whether through in-home tutoring or online academic advising, our Insight and deep capabilities have assisted over 700 students around the world.  Today, General Academic's operations include in-home tutoring and office based solutions.  Our new office, the Study Lounge, in the Rice Village is a one-of-a-kind lively, coffee house-like environment to make students feel comfortable and excited about getting down to business.
 
Shelby Joe founded General Academic in 2003, two weeks before matriculating at Rice University.  At Rice, he majored in political science and managerial studies while also studying abroad in both China and Germany.  
 
After graduating, he went to work as a strategy consultant for a major management consulting firm.  He worked with Fortune 50 companies to develop sustainability, efficiency, and other corporate strategies.  Today, he brings these skills and strategies to General Academic.  
 
He is also the founder of NatSent, an innovative web-startup based in Houston, Texas.
