Math and English

General Academic publishes content for e-learning courses in math and English for grades 5-11. This material comprises more than 200 instructional lessons and 20,000 practice questions. Taken together, our content is the equivalent of nearly 14 textbooks but much more modern.

These courses are available at Piqosity.com and used not only by our Houston-based team but educators and their students across the world. Our tutors use these courses with students as supplementary material when tutoring core math and English courses plus as remedial help for students preparing for the ACT, SAT, and ISEE standardized tests.

Every assessment question in these e-learning courses is peer-normed for difficulty, which gives our tutors the data they need to statistically determine a student’s strengths and weaknesses relative to their peers.

English Language Arts (ELA)

Our library of ELA courses includes comprehensive grade 5-11 instruction for middle and high school:

Each English course is aligned both to Common Core standards and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. When compared to traditional textbooks, our e-learning courses are like having multiple books:

  • Writing handbook
  • Reading manual
  • Anthology
  • Classic novels

The best way to improve a student’s reading skills is simply more experience with reading. Therefore, our courses walk students through more than 100 passages and ask comprehension questions in topics like main idea, supporting idea, vocabulary, author intent, organization, tone, style, and figurative language. The type of material each course includes ranges from creative non-fiction to classic novels like Oliver Twist in our 8th grade course to The Great Gatsby in our 11th grade course.

Math
