• Entrepreneurial Creativity - Plan and Fund a Startup
Let’s build a company together.  The goal of this course is to enable precocious students to swindle their friends, families, (and fools) into investing in the next big thing.  We will help students develop and research their ideas, research and write a solid business plan, and prepare to pitch to investors.  At the end of the course, parents should be prepared to open their wallets to fund junior’s next billion-dollar IPO!

  • Rice Students + Top Tier Alumni
The majority of our tutor Analysts, about 75%, are current undergraduate or graduate students of Rice University.  The remaining 25% are recent alumni of comparable Top Tier universities and programs.
  • Undegraduates + Graduates

Our current team includes approximately 40 individuals and is continually growing.  About 60% of our team are current undergraduate students, 30% are recent alumni, and the remaining 10% are Masters or PhD candidates.

  • Multi-Talented

All of our tutor Analysts are capable in multiple academic fields so that you don't have to manage multiple individuals to get help in Spanish and Calculus for example.  Furthermore, they are highly proficient English writers and speakers, and have completed a rigorous in-person application and interview process.

  • Simply Smart
In addition to having gained admissions to their respective prestigious universities, all tutor Analysts maintain (or had) a GPA of 3.0 (B average) or higher.  Finally, our tutor Analysts who teach the SAT and ACT standardized tests scored in the top 1 percent of their respective tests.

The Smart Kid Next Door

We're your neighbor's kid--we've done well in school, studied hard, and have a knack for working with our peers. We take pride and joy in knowing that we're able to help someone out.  Most of us won't have a problem with meeting up at 10pm or listening to your child tell us about her terrible date with some way immature guy.  And some of us can even solve a Rubik's cube in less than five minutes!

We're a diverse crowd. We represent the demographics of our universities. We've studied abroad all around the world--China, Germany, Italy, France, Spain--just to name a few of the most popular places. We're majoring in math, science, and the humanities--we're studying for the MCATs and stressing over the LSATs and the GREs.

Our alumni include management consultants, investment bankers, teachers, scholars, engineers, doctors and lawyers.

Once you meet us, you'll find out that we're pretty normal people who just want your student to have the same understanding that we have of academics.

Support and Teamwork

When you begin working with General Academic, you will benefit from the entire wealth of knowledge that the Company has to offer from all of its tutors and Clients past and present.  We are not a staffing company that sends you one smart person and then just collects the bill.  We support you and our team of tutor Analysts 100% from the beginning of the relationship until the end.

Client Manager
In addition to your regular interaction with your tutor Analyst, you will also meet and engage with a Client Manager who will help shape the strategy and set up the road map for your relationship with us.  The Client Manager will also continually monitor your progress bringing in additional insight from other Client experiences as necessary.  He or she will also be available to answer any questions or address any concerns that you might have.  Your Manager can even sub-in or replace your regular tutor Analyst if necessary.

GA Collaborate Online Portal
Our online project management portal helps us keep you continually informed on our progress.  You can log into your project portal to read daily reports from your Analyst and review the Best Practices that he's discovered while working with your child.  You can also use the portal to communicate with your Analyst and Manager if you prefer that to phone calls or e-mails.

Continual Collaboration Across Teams
In combination with the Insights Knowledge Exchange (IKE), our online portal  enables us to better collaborate with each other, collaboration that delivers betters results to you.  For example, if we have two students at Carnegie Vanguard both in 9th grade AP Human Geography, we think that it makes a lot of sense to share our notes in order to ensure that your student is better prepared.

Insights Knowledge Exchange  (IKE)
Because it's admittedly impossible for every one of our tutor Analysts to talk to every other tutor past and present to learn from their experiences, we created IKE.  IKE is the platform through which we document our Client experiences and share them with you and with other tutors so that we have a launch pad to start helping you faster and better.
